Information architecture

75% of the problems users find when browsing the web have to do with information architecture.

What is information architecture?

Information architecture is an area of study that consists of organizing, ranking and naming existing information on Web sites, mobile devices and interfaces.

C COMUNICACION has developed a method to analyse and design information architecture for Web sites and interfaces, working on the following systems:

  • Navigation systems
  • Labeling systems
  • Searching systems

The idea is simple: if users do not find what they are looking for in a Web site, or the information is not clear or is complicated, their experience will be frustrating and negative.

With the development of the web 2.0 (social netsworks) and 3.0 (semantic network), information architecture has gained importance. Additional systems (such as social systems of generation and distribution of content, on one side, and meta content on the other) are becoming more relevant as new elements that may definitively alter the user's experience.

Users need information architecture that provides valuable content

Information architecture has become key as the average internet user is exposed to an increasing amount of information.

A few years ago the problem was access to the information: people who obtained more information in the least possible time had a comparative advantage.

Today the problem is a different one: people are overwhelmed with the amount of irrelevant information and instead need to obtain relevant information to make better decisions in less time.

The methods related to information architecture that we implement at C COMUNICACION provide specific solutions that allow customers to offer their users quick, friendly, and intuitive access to valuable content.
